Description
You need to learn linear algebra!

Linear algebra is perhaps the most important branch of mathematics for computational sciences, including machine learning, AI, data science, statistics, simulations, computer graphics, multivariate analyses, matrix decompositions, and so on.

You need to know applied linear algebra, not just abstract linear algebra!

The way linear algebra is presented in 30-year-old textbooks is different from how professionals use linear algebra in computers to solve real-world applications. For example, the "determinant" of a matrix is important for linear algebra theory, but should you actually use the determinant in practical applications? The answer may surprise you, and it's in this course!

If you are interested in learning the mathematical concepts linear algebra and matrix analysis, but also want to apply those concepts to data analyses on computers, then this course is for you!

Unique aspects of this course

Clear and comprehensible explanations of concepts and theories in linear algebra.
Several distinct explanations of the same ideas, which is a proven technique for learning.
Visualization using graphs, numbers, and spaces that strengthens the geometric intuition of linear algebra.
Implementations in MATLAB and Python. Com'on, in the real world, you never solve math problems by hand! You need to know how to implement math in software!
Beginning to intermediate topics, including vectors, matrix multiplications, least-squares projections, eigendecomposition, and singular-value decomposition.
Strong focus on modern applications-oriented aspects of linear algebra and matrix analysis.
Intuitive visual explanations of diagonalization, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, and singular value decomposition.
Benefits of learning linear algebra

Understand statistics including least-squares, regression, and multivariate analyses.
Improve simulations in engineering, computational biology, finance, and physics.
Understand data compression and dimension-reduction (PCA, SVD, eigendecomposition).
Understand the math underlying machine learning and linear classification algorithms.
Explore the link between linear algebra, matrices, and geometry.
Why I am qualified to teach this course:

I have been using linear algebra extensively in my research and teaching (primarily in MATLAB) for many years. I have written several textbooks about data analysis, programming, and statistics, that rely extensively on concepts in linear algebra.

Who this course is for?
Anyone interested in learning about matrices and vectors
Students who want supplemental instruction/practice for a linear algebra course
Engineers who want to refresh their knowledge of matrices and decompositions
Biologists who want to learn more about the math behind computational biology
Data scientists (linear algebra is everywhere in data science!)

A Comprehensive Hands-on Guide for the Acoustic Rhythm Guitarist

Most acoustic guitar players, including working pros and even accomplished singer-songwriters, have a very limited vocabulary of rhythm patterns and grooves. Having a comprehensive range of strumming patterns at your command translates into many more opportunities for playing with other musicians, getting gigs, all while expanding your creative potential for composing your own music.

Corey Congilio's Acoustic Rhythm Guitar Playbook dives deep into the art of acoustic rhythm playing with a massive curriculum, which he organized into 6 sections featuring 60 rhythm guitar studies and grooves.

ATTENTION Electric Players! Don't let the "Acoustic" in the title fool you - this mega-course will cure all that ails your rhythm playing as well!

Each of the 6 sections focuses on a specific rhythm guitar approach and each section features 10 rhythm performance studies (60 rhythm studies and grooves in all). Corey will first perform the rhythm performance study and then break it down note-for-note explaining the underlying rhythmic and technical approach used in the study.

SECTION 1: Basic 16th Strums - "In the first section, we're going to work with 16th-note rhythms. I'll show you how to break them up, accent different parts of the rhythm, and play syncopated rhythms. The chord progressions will be relatively short so you can easily get your hands around them and get the groove."

SECTION 1 includes a 16th-note primer and 9 Rhythm Studies: 16th Note Rhythm Primer, Am to C, D to A, E to A, G to C, A to E, Em to G, C to Em, G to Em, Em to Am, and C to F.

SECTION 2: Song Building Grooves - "In this second section, we'll be working with some bass and drum practice jam tracks. We'll be using some of the 16th-note rhythms and add a few techniques like hammer-ons and pull-offs to help make your rhythm playing come alive."

SECTION 2 includes 10 Rhythm Studies: Hammer The Changes, Small Addition, Mel O D, First Chucka, 3 E 4 E, Synch E Pated, The People's Key, Learn to Love the Dot, Keep it Movin', and Tight Up Top.

SECTION 3: Movable Chord Grooves - "In the third section, we'll expand your acoustic rhythm playbook even further with moveable chords, barre chords, and even some inversions. These studies will get you moving around the guitar a lot more and open your eyes to a lot of real estate on the fretboard that you might not be used to."

SECTION 3 includes 10 Rhythm Studies: Ease Into It, Step By Step, Can't Back Out Now, Basic Battlefield, Steppin' it Up, Quite Common, Bring On the Slash, Double Your Slash, Ditch the Barre, and All In.

SECTION 4: Maj7, Min7 & Dominant - "The fourth section focuses on incorporating major and minor seventh chords, as well as dominant shapes into your grooves. These studies will keep you moving around the fretboard a lot more but they also start to infuse some stylistic colors into your playing with some funk, R&B, and jazz sounds."

SECTION 4 includes 10 Rhythm Studies: Good Together, Keepin' it Melodic, Like a Glove, Sweet D, D in Tact, Dreamy, Two Five One, Acoustic RnB, Slow Jamz, and Sad Disco."

SECTION 5: Riff-Based Rhythms - "The fifth section focuses on ten ways to add riffs to your rhythm parts. Single lines and phrases are great way to spice up any progression and create that perfect groove for the song."

SECTION 5 includes 10 Rhythm Studies: C-Riffic, G Whiz, A for Effort, Acousta Soul, Drop It, Outlaw Vibes, Chime for Days, Big and Open, Cascade, Capoin' Ain't Cheatin'."

SECTION 6: Song Based Grooves - "And finally in the sixth section of the playbook, we'll work through ten song-based acoustic grooves that contain multiple rhythm parts, giving you recipes for creating your own songs."

SECTION 6 includes 10 Rhythm Studies: Into the Pull, Like a Train, Folky Floyd, Minor 4, One for the Folks, It's a Bell, Hammers and Pulls, Mental, Capo Drop, and Ton of Staples."

All of the performance studies are tabbed and notated for your practice, reference and study purposes. You'll also get Guitar Pro files so that you can play, loop and/or slow down the tab and notation as you work through the lessons. Plus, Corey includes all of the backing tracks for you to work with on your own.

Grab your guitar and let's exponentially expand our rhythm guitar playbook with Corey Congilio!

Genre: eLearning Video / Medicine

Welcome to Clinical Problem Solving, offered by the University of California, San Francisco, on Coursera. This course will examine the ways physicians think about clinical problem solving and will help participants develop competence in the building blocks of clinical problem solving. The professor will use cases to illustrate different reasoning strategies and will discuss how both correct and incorrect diagnoses result from these strategies. Participants will use sample clinical cases to practice what they have learned through the lectures.Although all students are welcome to watch lectures, attempt assignments, and participate in discussions, it is strongly recommended that students have an academic or professional background in medical terminology and physical diagnosis. The weekly assignments will ask students to apply the concepts and principles taught in this course to various diseases, syndromes, and diagnoses; however, detailed information about medical terminology and disease states will not be taught in the course. Please read the "Recommended Readings" section below for information on outside resources that will be useful for completing assignments for all students. All students, regardless of their background, are encouraged to use a medical textbook to help accurately complete course assignments.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, students will have the ability to:

Understand how doctors and other medical professionals use patient's complaints to accurately determine diagnoses
Accurately process patient symptoms to prioritize possible diagnoses
Successfully use Illness Scripts as a method for organizing patient symptoms
Recognize patterns and apply these pattern-recognition skills to refine decision making and prioritize among different diagnostic possibilities
Correctly interpret diagnostic tests and use diagnostic tests to refine your prioritized diagnosis
Understand biases and errors that may lead to poor decision making and practice a strategy for uncovering biased decisions

AAC | 128 Kbps | 44.1 KHz | 2 channels | 10:05:53 | 960 MB
Genre: eLearning Video / Information Technology, Computer Science, Security
This course provides you with opportunities to integrate and apply your information security knowledge. Following the case-study approach, you will be introduced to current, real-world cases developed and presented by the practitioner community. You will design and execute information assurance strategies to solve these cases.

Many of you will be aware of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform Coursera and the great content they offer. Among many other interesting online courses they occasionally run courses relevant to Information Security and while not all of them are worthwhile i'd like to highlight one in particular.

The 'Designing and Executing Information Security Strategies' course led by Mike Simon (University of Washington) provides a great no nonsense, non technical glimpse into the real world of Information Security practitioners. It does not get hung up on theoretical issues but focuses on real challenges and scenarios from Mike's experience in the field. Obviously it is not 'Zero to Hero' Information Security professional course but it is a good introduction particularly to those who are not overly familiar with Information Security and like to know what all the fuss is about.

Financial Services ASP, provides credit clearance software services for 20 large banks worldwide
We provide the platform and the software, their (the banks) people operate the system
Our DBAs have access to the banks databases for support reasons
Network security, database security, application security are all ours
All of our customers audit us, using whatever standard they see fit ISO 27002, BS 7799, SS 627799, etc

What's important to our customers

Information in the database includes
Names
Date of birth
Financial details (income, savings, net worth)
Credit Card info
SSN
They want to know that every person with access to the data meets certain criteria
Background checked
Qualified for the work
Authorized specifically for access to their data

Important, Part 2

They want to know that there is distinct separation of duties for adding authenticated access to the database
They want to know exactly how network (not authenticated) access to web servers, application servers and database servers is protected
They want to know who has access to what, and they want to audit these accesses.

A computer program is a set of instructions for a computer to follow, just as a recipe is a set of instructions for a chef. Laptops, kitchen appliances, MP3 players, and many other electronic devices all run computer programs. Programs have been written to manipulate sound and video, write poetry, run banking systems, predict the weather, and analyze athletic performance. This course is intended for people who have never seen a computer program.

It will give you a better understanding of how computer applications work and teach you how to write your own applications. More importantly, you'll start to learn computational thinking, which is a fundamental approach to solving real-world problems. About
Learn how to create your own game characters in Blender 3D! Learn how to model, texture, rig, and animate a character in Blender 3D. Discover how to bring the character into Unity and set-up a character controller to move the character around.
Blender provides an excellent low-cost way to learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling, texturing, and rendering. We will then use the Blender retopology tools, the Grease Pencil and the BSurfaces tools, to create a low-resolution version of our high-resolution sculpt. And we will bake normal and ambient occlusion maps in Blender, from the hi-res sculpt to the low-poly mesh. We will then import these texture maps into Unity and test them on our character in-game. We will look at some of the unique issues regarding UV mapping a character in Blender. We will use the UV mapping tools in Blender to create an organized UV map that can be exported to external paint programs like Photoshop or GIMP for texturing. And we will look at the texture painting tools in Blender and how to use them to create texture maps for the character. Then we will use the Blender Rigify add-on to create a basic rig for our game character. You'll learn how to prep the character for rigging and generate the base rig. We will then generate the control objects of the rig and go over the various controls and how they can be used during animation. From there we will adjust the weights of the character in Blender using vertex groups, and parent the character's war hammer and shield to the rig. You'll then learn the basics of creating animation cycles for a game character in Blender. We'll use Blender's graph editor and dope sheet to animate the idle and run animations, as well as create a jump pose. Finally, we will take it all into Unity and write some code to get our character running and jumping through a test level. All the code and supporting files for this course are available at - github.com/PacktPublishing/Create-Game-Characters-with-Blender
Features
You should be able to easily navigate the Blender interface and have some experience with Blender's modeling tools.
A pen tablet is used for digital painting during the texturing section of the course. The instructor uses a Wacom Intuos tablet.

Learn to use Blender, Substance Painter, Krita, and Unity to create your own game characters.
Learn
Model and UV map a 3D character in Blender, suitable for game engines
Texture a 3D character in Substance Painter
Rig a character in Blender that will work with the Humanoid Rig system in Unity
Use the free character animations provided with Unity on your own custom character
About
In this course, you will learn how to create a game character using Blender, Substance Painter, Krita, and Unity.
-Model and UV map a 3D character in Blender suitable for game engines
-Import Blender objects into Substance Painter
-Use Substance Painter to texture a 3D objects created in Blender
-Rig a character in Blender that will work with the Humanoid Rig system in Unity
-Use the free animations provided with Unity for your own custom character
We will begin by creating a low-poly version of our character in Blender suitable for game engines. From this Blender model we will create a high-resolution version to be used for baking our texture maps. We will UV map the character in Blender, and then import the models into Substance Painter where we will create PBR textures for the character's skin and costume. We will also cover how to best organize and prepare the character in Blender so that we can texture efficiently in Substance Painter. Once that is done, we will work on creating polygon hair in Blender and use Krita to hand-paint hair strands for the character. We'll then go back to Blender to rig our character, based on what Unity needs to set-up its Humanoid Rig system. If we can fulfill the requirements of the Humanoid Rig, then it opens up the possibility for using hundreds of animations available for free and for purchase on the Unity Asset store. In the end, we will bring our character and textures into Unity and set it up so that we can use the animations that come free with Unity's standard assets. Creating a game character in Blender can be a daunting task, but this course will provide an organized and well-structured discussion of each topic, explaining not only the how, but the why, of every step of the process. All the code and supporting files for this course are available at - github.com/PacktPublishing/Create-a-Game-Character-Blender-Substance-Painter-Unity

The word "creativity" can conjure up images of groundbreaking stand-up routines and paintings that inspire awe hundreds of years after the artist's final brush stroke. But creativity isn't just possessed by a brilliant few. All of us-from accountants to event planners-regularly perform creative acts. It's what allows us to reorient a project gone awry or capture the perfect shot of our friend beaming at their birthday party. Our brains already have the built-in machinery to be wildly creative-some of us just need a bit of clarity on the process. This lively series provides you with precisely that. Get weekly tips that can help you nurture your spontaneous impulses, reignite dormant creative powers, and leverage your innate creativity in all areas of your life. New instructors will be introduced as the course unfolds, allowing you to access a variety of unique takes on the creative process.
