Have you just seen a awesome JV thread where you can get $1000 per month, every month for life for only $50 upfront payment?

Before you snap up that awesome deal why not do a few simple checks before running off to your paypal account?

This thread is just to show you how to do a little bit of homework on someone who has started a golden thread!

Step one

Look at the persons profile and ask yourself a few things like:

1: How long has the person been a member (would you give money someone you just met if it was face2face?)

2: How many posts? (Are the posts all touting for business or just being social/helping?)

3: How many threads have they started? (yet again are they helping others or just touting for business?)

4: Where do they post? (Are they only posting in the seller/Freelancer?)

Basically is the member a decent member of the community by helping others, asking questions and just being normal?

Step Two

1. Ill be honest I only really do business with people who have coloured names as I find they tend to be better to do with business with and they have paid good money to have that "right" (some have earned that colour with even more to loose)!

If you get offended by this....Sorry but that's my view but I will add I have done business with a couple of "non colours" so I wont tarn all with the same brush at all but do your checks!

2: Has the person got any friends? (why not?)

Step Three

1: Back to checking out the users threads, does he have a sales thread? (if so then your normally pretty safe)

So people take a few minutes longer when parting with your money and it can save you a lot of time in the long run!!

All of the staff hate to see members getting scammed. We all work very hard to protect members, deleting 100's of threads a day, and taking lots of time and care on sales/services threads that we allow through. We can only do so much to protect members though, so here are some really simple pointers to help you avoid being scammed.

If a user doesn't have a Sales/Services thread approved by a Admin/moderator - don't buy.
Don't buy from anyone who started off by saying 'PM me for details', there is a reason they don't want to make their details public.
If something seems too good to be true - it is.
Exercise extreme caution when clicking on signature links where the poster doesn't have an approved BST.
Always make sure your payment method can be reversed if the service/product provider flakes. Don't send as a PayPal personal payment, don't western union.
Document and store ALL communications, including chat/IM logs
Always Google for the sellers e-mail address and any other information, they may have scammed other forums.
Stay away from threads/pm's/signatures that promote networks, do a search and due diligence before working with any network.
Check sellers other posts and threads, check have others complained, and how previous customers have rated and reviewed them.
Even if the user has an approved Sales/Service thread, ensure that you check them out fully, sellers can provide excellent review copies and then become flaky.
Always get full contact information - don't do your business via PM. It's too easy for internet users to drop off the board when things go pear shaped.
Be VERY paranoid regarding dropshipping, double check all of the above points when considering a product seller.
Avoid any JV's where the users require you pay before you receive your own payment. Consider the value of your own accounts, and the legality, and tax implications of letting someone send traffic to your accounts.
Just because someone has status, a high post count, or a good reputation, does not guarantee that they will not turn rogue or resort to desperate measures, apply the above regardless of status on KMP.
